Supporting The Place York

The team recently visited The Place in York, a community centre we've been proud to support since installing their network in 2023. It was great to see the space busy and in use, and to hear more about the impact being made every day.

The Place sits in one of York's most deprived areas, where some families have experienced long-term unemployment across generations. Their work focuses on changing that, supporting children, young people and adults with the tools, confidence and opportunities they need to move forward.

They support families preparing young children for education, work with young people already in school and help adults take steps towards employment. It's practical, consistent support that makes a real difference over time.

The centre is entirely funded through the support of businesses that want to contribute to that mission. As part of that, we provide and maintain a secure, reliable network for the centre at no cost.

That connectivity underpins much of what happens at The Place. It gives visitors access to laptops for learning, job searching and everyday tasks, helping them stay digitally included. It also allows staff to communicate easily with local schools and partners, so they can coordinate support and respond when it's needed.

Seeing that in action brought it to life for us. What starts as infrastructure becomes something much more important in practice. It supports learning, access and opportunity.

We're proud to play a small part in supporting the work The Place is doing in the local community, alongside other businesses who are contributing in different ways.

We'd like to thank the team at The Place for having us back and for the work they do every day. We're looking forward to continuing our support.
