Communicate Technology PLC expands with two new apprentices

Specialist IT, telecoms and cyber security company Communicate Technology PLC hire two apprentices to support the organisation’s cyber security services growth.

Working with apprentice provider QA, Communicate have added two Apprentice Security Operations Centre (SOC) Engineers Henry Nel and Dominic Tory to their cyber security team in central Leeds, to assist with department’s period of growth.

Discussing the importance of apprenticeships within the highly competitive cyber industry, David Johnson, cyber director of Communicate said: “The cyber industry is very vibrant at present, so breaking into the market is more challenging than ever. For us, enabling more young people to access our industry gives back and builds a strong base for the future.

“The fact we can train staff to fit perfectly into our business is a great benefit to us, eliminating any bad habits which could potentially have come from other organisations. Apprentices can bring bright new ideas to keep us at the forefront of the evolving landscape.”

Communicate are advocates for apprenticeships and have employed six apprentices to date across their offices based in Leeds, Tees Valley and Kent.

David continued: “I’m excited to see Henry and Dominic in the business and we hope to employ more apprentices in the next few months to support the growth of Communicate.”

Having started in March 2021 the apprentices will complete their course in October 2022, with the possibility of future employment within the company.

25-year-old apprentice Henry explained why he chose Communicate for his apprenticeship: “The position seemed to be something that really appealed to me, it stood out from the other available opportunities. After the initial interview, I had a good feeling about the business and their big emphasis on extra training for staff.”

Dominic, apprentice, also 25 years old, said: “I’ve really enjoyed settling a team where I feel like I’m valued and constantly learning new technologies in the defence of various clients. I’m looking forward to delving deeper into the SIEM and firewall aspects of SOC work.”
